Biography
Hayao Miyazaki, born on January 5, 1941, in Tokyo, Japan, is a Japanese manga artist, prominent film director, and animator. Known by the stage name 宮崎駿 and also known as Saburo Akitsu and Akitsu Sa, he has had a career spanning nearly five decades. As a filmmaker, Miyazaki has attained international acclaim as a maker of animated feature films and co-founded Studio Ghibli along with Isao Takahata, an animation studio and production company. The success of his films has invited comparisons to American animator Walt Disney, British animator Nick Park, and Robert Zemeckis, and he has been named one of the most influential people by Time Magazine.
