George Sherman was an American second feature director known primarily for his work in B-westerns, alongside occasional forays into action and horror themes. Born in New York City, New York on July 14, 1908, he arrived in California aboard the SS Mongolia after serving as a bellboy on the ship. He began his career in the movie business in the mail room at Warner Brothers before working his way up to assistant director. By 1937, he was directing under contract with Republic. His credits include the Three Mesqueteers series featuring a young John Wayne. Sherman died on March 15, 1991, at the age of 82.
