Frank Miller was born on January 27, 1957, in Olney, Maryland, United States. He is an American comic book artist, comic book writer, and screenwriter known for his work in the comic book industry. His notable projects include his run on Daredevil, during which he created the character Elektra, as well as subsequent works such as Daredevil: Born Again, The Dark Knight Returns, Batman: Year One, Sin City, and 300.

Miller is recognized for combining film noir and manga influences in his comic art creations. Regarding this style, he noted that upon starting Sin City, he found American and English comics to be too wordy and constipated, and Japanese comics to be too empty, leading him to attempt a hybrid approach.
