Erle C. Kenton was an American film director born on August 1, 1896, in Norborne, Missouri. Between 1916 and 1957, he directed 131 films, including the 1934 crime drama Search for Beauty and Island of Lost Souls, which starred Charles Laughton. Kenton was known as a director of B films. From 1958 to 1960, he and Edward Ludwig served as the principal directors for the CBS television series The Texan, which starred Rory Calhoun as Bill Longley. Kenton died on January 28, 1980, in Glendale, California, from Parkinson's disease.
