Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, born April 15, 1990, is an English actress and activist. She gained international fame for her portrayal of Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter film series. Watson has been recognized as one of the world's highest-paid actresses by Forbes and Vanity Fair during the 2010s and was named one of Time magazine's 100 most influential people in 2015. She is also known for her advocacy for women's rights and gender equality. Watson received early acting training at the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts and attended the Dragon School. Beyond her acting career, she has focused on independent films and public activism.
