Eihi Shiina was born on February 3, 1976, in Fukuoka, Japan. She began her career as a fashion model, gaining her first major break in 1995 when she worked for the Benetton brand. Her performance as Asami Yamazaki in Takashi Miike’s Audition brought her international recognition, establishing her as a notable figure in Japanese horror cinema. She later appeared in the cult action‑horror film Tokyo Gore Police, playing the character Ruka.
