Edgar Kennedy
Biography
Edgar Livingston Kennedy was an American comedic film character actor born in Monterey, California, on April 26, 1890, and who died on November 9, 1948. Professionally known as Slow Burn, Kennedy was recognized for an exasperated facial expression performed very deliberately, which he embellished by rubbing his hand over his bald head and across his face to hold his temper. He appeared in at least 500 films during the silent and sound eras. His film work included appearances in many Hal Roach films and a small role as a lemonade vendor in the Marx Brothers film Duck Soup. Because he became identified with frustration, studios hired him to play hotheads, including dumb cops, detectives, and a prison warden.
