Biography
Duccio Tessari was an Italian film director, screenwriter, and occasionally an actor, who is considered one of the fathers of spaghetti westerns. Born in Genoa, Italy on October 11, 1926, he began his career in the 1950s working as a documentarian and a screenwriter for peplum films. In 1964, he co-wrote Sergio Leone's film A Fistful of Dollars. The following year, he achieved commercial success and launched the career of actor Giuliano Gemma with A Pistol for Ringo and its sequel, The Return of Ringo. Throughout his career, Tessari explored various genres and directed successful television series for RAI. He was married to actress Lorella De Luca and died of cancer in Rome on September 6, 1994.
