Directing duties for the production were shared by Piero Pierotti, Hugo Fregonese, and Richard McNamara. The cast includes actors Rory Calhoun, Yoko Tani, Robert Hundar, and Camillo Pilotto. For the American English-dubbed version of the movie, additional scenes were directed by Hugo Fregonese, and a new musical score was composed by Les Baxter. The plot follows the journey of an Italian explorer who rescues the daughter of the Mongol leader Kublai Khan. During his travels, the explorer encounters a hermit who has invented gunpowder.
