Daniel Jonathan Stevens, born on October 10, 1982, in Croydon, London, England, United Kingdom, is an English actor. Known for his work in both television and film, he has accumulated seventy known acting credits. He first drew international attention for his role as Matthew Crawley in the ITV period drama series Downton Abbey from 2010 to 2012. His film roles include David in the thriller The Guest and Sir Lancelot in the adventure film Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb, both released in 2014. He later starred as The Beast and Prince in Disney's live-action Beauty and the Beast, Lorin Willis in Marshall, and Charles Dickens in The Man Who Invented Christmas in 2017.
