Christine Maria Kaufmann was a German actress born on January 11, 1945, in Lengdorf, Styria, and she passed away on March 28, 2017, at the age of 72. Born to a German father and a French mother, she initially became a ballerina at the Munich Opera. She began her film career at the age of seven in the 1952 adaptation of Im weißen Rößl, also known as White Horse Inn. She achieved fame with the 1954 release Rosen-Resli at the age of nine. Kaufmann gained international recognition starring alongside Steve Reeves in The Last Days of Pompeii in 1959 and with Kirk Douglas in Town Without Pity in 1961. For her role in Town Without Pity, she won the Golden Globe Award for New Star of the Year - Actress in 1961, remaining the only German to receive this honor.
