He attended Northern Highlands Regional High School in Allendale, New Jersey, and was selected for the NJ Governor's School of the Arts for acting. Wylde graduated from the American University in Washington, DC, with a bachelor's degree in Theater-Performance. He is the son of preacher parents. Chris Wylde has been involved in various musical endeavors, including singing for the Queen Mother in Westminster Abbey and performing with the St. Thomas Boys' Choir. He has also collaborated with Carly Simon on the track "Let the River Run" which appeared in Mike Nichols's film Working girl - Quand les femmes s'en mêlent.
