Birkan Sokullu was born in Istanbul on 6 October 1985. He comes from a family of Bosnian immigrants, as his grandparents migrated to Turkey. After a ten‑year involvement in basketball, a leg injury prompted him to abandon the sport. He pursued higher education at Maltepe University, graduating with a specialization in Radio and Television Programming. During his university studies he entered the modelling industry; his early modelling work included runway and commercial assignments, providing him with exposure to the entertainment industry. Sokullu later received acting instruction from Dolunay Soysert and also spent a year in the Drama and Acting Department of Istanbul Aydın University before leaving the program. The combination of formal training and practical experience contributed to his versatility as an actor.

Transitioning to acting, Sokullu first attracted attention by appearing in several Turkish television productions. He took on new characters in the popular series “Küçük Kadınlar,” the youth‑oriented drama “Melekler Korusun,” and the crime series “Uçurum.” His breakthrough came when he was cast in the leading role of Demir in the series “Küçük …” (the title appears incomplete in the source).
