Bipasha Basu is an Indian actor born in New Delhi on January 7, 1979. Initially, she studied science with the aspiration of becoming a doctor and later planned to become a chartered accountant. In 1996, at the age of 17, she won Ford's Godrej Cinthol Supermodel of the Year contest. One of the judges of the contest, actor Vinod Khanna, wanted to cast her alongside his son Akshaye Khanna in the 1997 romance film Himalay Putra. Basu subsequently pursued a successful acting career in Bollywood. After starring in seven horror films between 2002 and 2015, she was dubbed Bollywood's very own Scream Queen by the Indian press. Her known credits include work in films such as Omkara, Aakrosh, and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.
