Mildred Avis Bunnage was a British actress of film, stage, and television, born on April 22, 1923, in Manchester, England, and died on October 4, 1990. She attended Manley Park Municipal School and Chorlton Central School in Manchester, and worked as a secretary and a nursery teacher prior to becoming an actress. After gaining stage experience in repertory, she made her first professional appearance at the Chorlton Rep Theatre in Manchester in 1947. Bunnage was a member of Joan Littlewood's Theatre Workshop company at the Theatre Royal Stratford East, where she created the role of Helen, the mother in A Taste of Honey. On television, she notably appeared as Veronica, the wife of Rigsby, for one episode of Rising Damp, and she also appeared in the film Tom Jones as the Landlady of the George Inn.
