Audra Lindley was an American actress born on September 24, 1918, in Los Angeles, California, to show business parents. She initially worked as a stand-in and did stunt work in Hollywood before transitioning to theater in New York in her mid-20s. Lindley appeared in several Broadway plays, including On Golden Pond, Playhouse 90, Long Day's Journey into Night, and Horse Heavens. She took time off to get married and raise five children, later resuming her career with steady appearances on television, notably as landlady Helen Roper on the sitcom Three's Company and its spin-off, The Ropers.
