She is the daughter of actress Daria di Nicolodi and filmmaker Dario de Argento, noted for his work in the giallo genre and influence on modern horror and slasher cinema; her maternal great‑grandfather was composer Alfredo Casella. Argento began acting at nine, appearing in a film by Sergio Citti, and at ten she played a small part in Demons 2, a 1986 film written and produced by her father, later appearing in its unofficial sequel La Chiesa (The Church).
