Biography
Amanda Root is an English stage and screen actor and a former voice actor for children's programmes. Born in 1963 in Chelmsford, Essex, she trained for the stage at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art. Root is known for her starring role in the 1995 BBC film adaptation of Jane Austen's Persuasion. She also appeared in the British television comedy All About Me as Miranda, alongside Richard Lumsden in 2004. During her time as a voice actor, she is best known for voicing Sophie in BFG.
