Allen Case was an American television actor born as Alan Case Lavelle Jones on October 8, 1934, in Dallas, Texas. He died on August 25, 1986. His parents were retail clothiers Casey Jones and Nadine Allen Jones. Case attended Southern Methodist University before leaving in his junior year. Following his departure from the university, he sang on a television program in Dallas and toured in musicals before traveling to New York to audition for the Arthur Godfrey's Talent Scouts program. He is most noted for his lead role as Deputy Clay McCord in the NBC television series The Deputy, which aired from 1959 to 1961, appearing opposite series regular Henry Fonda. His filmography also includes Lawman, The Bob Newhart Show, and Hill Street Blues.
