Born in New York City, New York, on July 14, 1892, he appeared in more than 320 films between 1927 and 1954. His film credits include The Last Mile released in 1932, Call of the Prairie in 1936, A Man's World in 1942, and the 1951 film The Girl on the Bridge. He was married to Rene Boucicault. Al Hill died in Los Angeles, California, on July 14, 1954.
