Making of “Les arbres de Max” (2025)

In my recent news(-and-audio-)letter I spoke a bit about my „relationship“ with Max Ernst and his influence on me as a young artist. I created an artwork inspired by one of his. Here now is the work n progress video from the work „Les arbres de Max“. 

The beginning and the end to this film is from today – leaving Hamburg by train in the morning and arriving in Cologne and at the very end Brühl, where I am visiting my parents in the heart of concrete. You know why this makes total sense if you read my newsletter or checked the background to this woodcut on my website alexdiamond.de  

I know, it is a minute long (how crazy!!! when we are all so busy scrolling and swiping!!!), but I guess this is more than fair considering it took me more than a week to carve the artwork and half a day to create this video.

The music is from the Marcin Wasilewski Trio and their 2021 album „En attendant“ (ECM). Which is one of the most beautiful records you’ll ever hear.

This work is part of my collaboration with Geberit.
