C5N, short for Canal 5 Noticias, started as a cable news channel launched by the media group of Daniel Hadad, which also ran Radio 10. Hadad sold his broadcasting businesses in 2012, and the channel moved to Grupo Indalo, the holding company tied to businessman Cristóbal López.
Most of the airtime goes to Argentine politics and the economy: Congress, the Casa Rosada, court cases, inflation, the exchange rate and labor disputes. Political panels fill much of the evening, while daytime hours lean on live reporting from around the Buenos Aires metropolitan area, where crews cover protests, transport strikes, storms and crime.
