Originally launched as GameSpot TV on ZDTV, which was later rebranded as TechTV, the program premiered on July 4, 1998. The series underwent several name changes, including Extended Play, before becoming Xplay. The show officially premiered under the Xplay title on April 28, 2003, on the G4 network. The program features hosts including Adam Sessler, Morgan Webb, Kristin Adams, and Kate Botello.
