Overview

Utawarerumono is a television series created by Munemitsu Suga that first aired in 2006. The story centers on a man named Hakuoro who suffers from amnesia after sustaining serious injuries. He is discovered and nursed back to health by an elderly woman and her granddaughter, Eruruu. Hakuoro wears a strange, irremovable mask and experiences visions of a beastly nature. He integrates into a village inhabited by people who possess animal-like features, such as ears and tails. These villagers live in a society that venerates the forces of nature. Their peaceful existence is interrupted when the desecration of a local altar forces them to defend themselves against Mutikapa-sama, the guardian of the forest. As the narrative progresses, the characters face an oppressive ruler, which leads them into a period of war, chaos, and a destiny that exceeds their initial expectations. The series is based on an ero-game of the same title and features a voice cast including Rikiya Koyama and Ryoka Yuzuki.
