Ultimate Muscle: The Kinnikuman Legacy is an animation, action, adventure, comedy, and science fiction fantasy television series that premiered in 2002. Known in Japan as Kinnikuman II sei, the program is a sequel to the original Kinnikuman manga series that began in 1979. The series was created by Yoshinori Nakai and Takashi Shimada, who work under the collective pen name Yudetamago. The title Ultimate Muscle was selected to establish a connection between the anime and the Americanized storyline of the M.U.S.C.L.E. toy line, which was originally released in North America during the 1980s. During the initial run of the television series, Bandai produced and distributed toy tie-ins. The production, which has also been associated with the years 2001 and 2006 in various records, features voice acting contributions from performers such as Mike Pollock. The series is classified with a TV-Y7 rating. This project continues the legacy of the manga and anime franchise established by its creators through its blend of wrestling-themed storytelling and character-driven action.
