Thomas and Friends: Marvellous Machinery is a 2020 animated fantasy television movie released on September 28, 2020, in Great Britain. Directed by Joey So, the film features voice work from Laura Beaumont, Jules de Jongh, Teresa Gallagher, and Bob Golding. The plot begins when the Earl and his inventor friend Ruth host a Technology Fair, bringing all sorts of amazing inventions to Sodor, including Kenji, an electric engine described as the fastest in the world. As new inventions are planned and built, Thomas and his friends worry about the effects of technology and fear that they will be replaced. Meanwhile, two sneaky thieves and their engine, Sonny, attempt to make off with one of the marvellous inventions. It is ultimately up to the Steam Team to step in and stop them.
