Overview

The Polygamist is a South African telenovela produced by Stained Glass TV Productions for Netflix that premiered on June 12, 2026. Based on the novel of the same name by Zimbabwean author Sue Nyathi, the series features a cast including Gugu Gumede, Kwanele Mthethwa, S'Dumo Mtshali, and Lwazie Keith Mfeka. The story centers on Jonasi Gomora, a self-made CEO and banker whose carefully curated empire begins to unravel. His wife, Joyce, is a social media darling who initially appears to be the picture of marital perfection. As the narrative unfolds, Joyce, who is also described as a glamorous influencer and matriarch, fights to reclaim her dignity and self-worth. Meanwhile, the husband's secret second wife, mistress, and girlfriend engage in a conflict over his life and wealth.
