Drafting Overview (Target: 160-220 words):
The second season of the drama series The O.C. begins following the events of the previous season. At the conclusion of the prior year, Ryan Atwood returned to Chino to protect his pregnant ex-girlfriend from an abusive ex-boyfriend. Following the departure of his only friend in Newport Beach, Seth decided to follow through with his plan to sail away on his yacht, the Summer Breeze, in an attempt to run away from Newport Beach. As the summer concludes and the new school year approaches, Ryan and Seth are nowhere to be found. In their absence, Kirsten and Sandy attempt to remain occupied by working on a remodeling project at their home. Meanwhile, Julie and Caleb have settled into their mansion located in Newport Beach. The narrative arc of this season picks up with the central characters Ryan and Seth missing from the Newport Beach community as the summer ends and the academic year is set to begin.
