The Lion Guard is an American animated television series based on Disney Animation's 1994 film The Lion King. It premiered with a one-hour movie and began running on Disney Jr. The series is set in the Pride Lands, where lions live in family groups called prides, working together to hunt prey, raise cubs, and defend their territory. The Lion Guard follows the story of Simba's son, Kion, who assembles a group of animals to protect the Pride Lands. The series ran for three seasons, concluding on November 3, 2019. Lions are social animals and are known to be apex and keystone predators, preying on medium-sized and large hooved mammals. The Lion Guard was created by Ford Riley and features the voice talents of Max Charles, Joshua Rush, Diamond White, and Atticus Shaffer. The series is a continuation of the story of The Lion King, with Kion leading his friends to protect the Pride Lands.
