Overview

The film tells the story of a teenager who moves to a new location with his mother. Daniel LaRusso is the teenager who forms a relationship with Ali after the move. He becomes the target of a group of thugs led by Ali's ex-boyfriend Johnny, who are students of karate at the Cobra Kai dojo. The dojo is led by sensei John Kreese, who teaches a ruthless style of karate. Daniel finds a friend in Mr. Miyagi, a repairman who is also a martial arts master. Mr. Miyagi trains Daniel in a more compassionate form of karate for self-defense. As Daniel learns from Mr. Miyagi, he is prepared to compete against the Cobra Kai. The story revolves around Daniel's journey as he learns karate and faces his bullies. Mr. Miyagi's training methods and philosophy play a significant role in Daniel's development.
