Overview
The Faraway Paladin is a Japanese animated television series created by Kanata Yanagino. The series aired from 2021 to 2023 and follows the story of Will, a human child raised in a ruined city far from civilization by three undead guardians. These guardians include Blood, a hearty skeletal warrior; Mary, a graceful mummified priestess; and Gus, a crotchety spectral sorcerer. Together, they teach Will various skills and pour their love into him as he grows. As Will matures, he begins to question his identity and sets out to uncover the mysteries of his surroundings and the secret pasts of his guardians. The series explores themes of identity, morality, and the contrast between good and evil. It was produced by Children's Playground Entertainment and directed by Yuu Nobuta, with character designs by Koji Haneda and music by Ryūichi Takada and Keigo Hoashi from MONACA. The show features voice performances by Ayumu Murase, Maki Kawase, Nobuo Tobita, and Shoya Chiba.
