Overview

The television series The Drops of God follows the aftermath of the death of a world-renowned wine critic named Toyotaka Kanzaki. Upon his passing, Kanzaki leaves behind a significant wine collection that becomes the subject of a high-stakes inheritance challenge. According to the terms of his will, the estate will be awarded to the individual who can successfully identify the brand and vintage year of the twelve greatest wines selected by Kanzaki, as well as a final, legendary bottle referred to as the Drops of God. The competition for this collection pits two primary challengers against one another. The first is Shizuku Kanzaki, the biological son of the late critic. His opponent is Issei Tomine, a young wine critic who was adopted by Toyotaka Kanzaki. The series documents the rivalry between these two men as they navigate the complex requirements of the will to claim the legacy left behind by the deceased expert. The narrative centers on their efforts to decipher the specific selections and the history behind the collection.
