Overview
The Demon Girl Next Door is an animated television series created by Izumi Ito that premiered in 2019. Based on the 4-panel manga by Izumo Itou, the series is set in the quiet town of Tama City. The story follows Yuuko Yoshida, an ordinary schoolgirl whose life changes when she awakens dormant, devilish powers. Her ancestor, Lilith, entrusts her with a mission to defeat a magical girl from the Light clan to end a curse. Yuuko soon discovers that her target is Momo Chiyoda, a shrine maiden who attends the same school. After being introduced by their classmate Anri Sada, Yuuko challenges Momo to a duel but is quickly defeated due to her own lack of strength. Despite the rivalry, Yuuko struggles with her role as a devil and frequently relies on Momo for help. Through a series of coincidences, Yuuko also weakens Momo while the two cooperate to protect the peace of their town, despite Momo being an overpoweringly strong magical girl who treats her kindly.
