The film was directed by Paul Hyett, who also co-wrote the screenplay alongside Conal Palmer. Previously, the writers collaborated on the 2012 film titled The Seasoning House. The story is set during the seventeenth century and follows a young woman who is saved from execution. She is subsequently led to a priory so that she can repent her sins, but upon arrival, she discovers that a greater evil lies within the walls.
