Overview
The Christmas Setup is a 2020 American-Canadian romantic comedy television film directed by Pat Mills. The film follows the story of New York lawyer Hugo, who heads to Milwaukee with his best friend Madelyn to spend the holidays with his brother Aiden and his mom Kate. Kate is in charge of the local Christmas celebrations and is ever the matchmaker, arranging for Hugo to run into Patrick, who is Hugo's high school friend and secret crush recently returned after a successful stint in Silicon Valley. As they enjoy the local holiday festivities together, Hugo and Patrick's attraction to each other is undeniable, and it appears that Kate's matchmaking efforts are a success. The production marks the first LGBTQ-themed Christmas film ever broadcast by Lifetime. The cast features Ben Lewis as Hugo, Ellen Wong as Madelyn, Blake Lee, and Fran Drescher.
