Overview

The Brokenwood Mysteries is a New Zealand detective comedy-drama television series that premiered in 2014. The show is set in the seemingly peaceful rural town of Brokenwood, where Detective Inspector Mike Shepherd arrives on assignment. Shepherd, who has an unconventional approach to police work, investigates murders in the quiet town with the assistance of local Detective Kristin Sims. The series initially aired on Prime, now known as Sky Open. Each of the first six seasons consists of four episodes, while later seasons expanded to six episodes each. As of recent counts, the show has reached twelve seasons. The program features a mix of mystery and light humor as Shepherd navigates both the crimes and the close-knit community of Brokenwood. Throughout the series, Shepherd and his team encounter long-held secrets and unresolved tensions that surface in the course of their investigations.
