The Ark of Disperata is a comedy film released in Italy on September 2, 2017, with a runtime of one hour and fifty minutes. Directed by Edoardo Winspeare, the film is set in Disperata, a small town in Southern Italy. The story follows Filippo Pisanelli, a melancholy mayor who feels terribly unfit for his role. Struggling with a general state of depression, Filippo finds chinks of light only through his love of poetry and his passion for the literature lessons he gives to prison inmates. While in jail, he meets Pati, a small-time criminal from his own town. Pati and his brother Angiolino previously dreamed of becoming the mafia bosses of Capo di Leuca. However, an encounter with art changes everything, sparking an unusual friendship between the three men that leads them to make courageous choices.
