The Amazing Race is an American reality television competition series created by Bertram van Munster and Elise Doganieri. The program, hosted by Phil Keoghan, premiered on September 5, 2001, and concluded its first season on December 13, 2001, on CBS. The series follows teams of two as they embark on a trek around the world to various destinations. Throughout the competition, participants must complete a series of mental and physical challenges to receive clues regarding their next location. Teams are required to navigate foreign environments and interact with locals as they progress through the race. Those who fall the farthest behind are gradually eliminated from the contest. The first team to arrive at the final destination wins the competition and a prize of 1 million dollars. The inaugural season of the franchise was later released on DVD on September 27, 2005, and the series has since become available for streaming across multiple devices.
