TaleSpin is an American animated television series produced by Walt Disney Television Animation that originally premiered in 1990. The show reimagines various characters from the 1967 Disney film The Jungle Book within an aviation-themed setting. Set in the 1930s, the series features Baloo the Bear as a bush pilot working in the Pacific Islands. The premise follows Baloo and his young navigator, Kit Cloudkicker, as they operate an air cargo business. After Rebecca Cunningham and her daughter Molly purchase Baloo's failing company, the pilot must complete transport runs to clear his accumulated debt. Throughout their adventures, the pair frequently contends with Don Karnage and his band of sky pirates. The series title serves as a play on the term tailspin, which refers to a rapid descent of an aircraft. The program debuted on the Disney Channel on May 5, 1990, before moving to the Disney Afternoon for its official premiere on September 9, 1990. The series spanned one season and featured voice performances by actors including Ed Gilbert and Sally Struthers.
