The narrative follows two teenage girls, Bay Kennish and Daphne Vasquez, who discover they were accidentally switched as newborns in the hospital. Their upbringings were significantly different, as Bay Kennish grew up in a wealthy family with two parents and a brother, while Daphne Vasquez was raised by a single mother in a working-class neighborhood. Daphne Vasquez also lost her hearing at an early age due to a case of meningitis. When financial difficulties arise, the Vasquez family moves into the Kennish family guest house. This arrangement provides an opportunity for the members of both families to get to know one another as their lives are turned upside down by the discovery of the hospital error. The series explores the complexities of their new reality as they navigate their shared history and distinct backgrounds. The show ran from 2011 to 2017.
