Overview
Survivor is the American version of the international reality competition franchise derived from the Swedish television series Expedition Robinson, which was created by Charlie Parsons. The American series premiered on May 31, 2000, on CBS and is hosted by Jeff Probst. In this contest, sixteen or more castaways are divided into tribes and taken to a remote, isolated location where they must live off the land with meager supplies for approximately 39 days. Participants engage in physical challenges to win rewards such as food or luxuries, as well as immunity. Tribes that lose immunity must attend a tribal council to vote one of their members out of the game. The competition focuses on strategy and legacy as contestants battle to become the sole survivor. The winner of the contest receives a one million dollar prize. The series has continued through many seasons, with the 50th season featuring legendary players returning to face new challenges, surprise twists, and fan-driven decisions in this long-running reality television production.
