In this television episode, brothers Sam and Dean Winchester find themselves continuing their work in the American dark fantasy television series created by Eric Kripke. The series, which aired for fifteen seasons from September 13, 2005, to November 19, 2020, on networks including The WB and The CW, follows the brothers as they hunt demons and confront the paranormal evil living in the dark corners and on the back roads of America.

During this specific storyline, Castiel is working as a convenience store clerk. While in this role, he learns of a series of local disappearances. Recognizing the situation, Castiel calls the Winchesters for assistance. In response, Dean insists that Sam stay behind with Kevin to research the demon tablet, while Dean goes to help Castiel investigate the disappearances.

The dark fantasy series stars Jared Padalecki as Sam Winchester and Jensen Ackles as Dean Winchester. The brothers were raised as soldiers by their father after losing their mother to a mysterious and demonic supernatural force when they were boys, learning the family business of saving people and hunting things.
