Drafting - Attempt 1:
In the Supernatural episode titled Defending Your Life, Sam and Dean Winchester investigate a series of gruesome murders. Through their investigation, the brothers discover that the Egyptian god Osiris is responsible for the deaths. Osiris conducts trials for individuals based on their past mistakes, and he kills those who are found guilty. As the investigation continues, Osiris focuses on Dean Winchester, targeting him for a trial because of his guilt. Sam Winchester attempts to act as his brother's lawyer during the proceedings. However, the brothers find themselves unprepared when Osiris calls Jo as an unexpected witness.
Reviewing against constraints:
Word count check: The draft above is very short (approx 110 words). The prompt asks for 280-380 words.
Problem: The provided synopsis is extremely sparse. I cannot invent details to reach the word count.
Instruction check: "If the synopsis is sparse, stay concise rather than guessing."
Conflict: The user asks for 280-380 words, but also says "If the synopsis is sparse, stay concise rather than guessing." and "Never add dialogue, scene order, character names or plot events not explicitly present."
Resolution: I must prioritize the "verifiable facts" and "stay concise" instructions over the word count if the source material does not support a longer text. However, I can expand on the context provided by the sources (the series premise) to add substance without violating the "no guessing" rule.
Drafting - Attempt 2 (Expanding with source context):
