Overview
Supergirl is an American superhero drama television series based on the DC Comics character Kara Zor-El. Developed by Ali Adler, Greg Berlanti, and Andrew Kreisberg, the show follows the adventures of Superman's cousin as she establishes her own career as a hero. The series aired on CBS from October 26, 2015, to April 8, 2016, and continued on The CW from October 10, 2016, to November 9, 2021. The story centers on Kara, who was sent away from Krypton and taken in by the Danvers family at age 13. After hiding her abilities for 12 years, she is forced to reveal her true identity and powers during an unexpected disaster to protect National City. While the series retains core aspects of the character's origin and her connection to Superman, it introduces new elements and characters to expand on her personal growth and adventures.
