The group operates in Charming, a fictional town located in the Central Valley of California. The series focuses on the original and founding charter of the organization, known as the Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club, Redwood Original. This charter is frequently referred to by the acronyms SAMCRO or Sam Crow, or simply as the Redwood Charter. The club maintains many charters throughout the United States and overseas. Within the narrative, the members of the club live, ride, and die for their brotherhood. As the club leader Clay Morrow and his wife Gemma steer the organization in an increasingly lawless direction, Gemma's son Jax finds himself torn between his loyalty to the club and the legacy left behind. The series explores the dynamics of this group as they navigate their operations and internal conflicts within the established framework of their outlaw lifestyle.
