Snow Treasure 1968

Overview

Snow Treasure is a 1968 film categorized within the action, drama, and war genres. Set in 1940, the story takes place in Norway, a neutral country that faces an invasion by Nazi Germany. The plot follows a group of Norwegian children who engage in their favorite pastime of skiing while secretly working to rescue national gold from the occupying forces. Because the Nazi soldiers focus their searches exclusively on the adult population, they remain unaware of the activities performed by the children. To move the gold to safety, the children transport the bars one at a time across the mountains to a waiting fishing boat. This operation becomes a race against time as the onset of spring causes the mountain snow to melt. Consequently, the children are required to ski from dawn until dusk every day to complete their mission. The film has a runtime of one hour and thirty-five minutes and was released in the United States on October 4, 1968.
