Overview
Shimoneta: A Boring World Where the Concept of Dirty Jokes Doesn't Exist is a 2015 television series set in a society where coarse language is prohibited. The narrative takes place sixteen years after the implementation of the Law for Public Order and Morals in Healthy Child-Raising, which banned explicit speech throughout the country. The story follows Tanukichi Okuma as he enrolls in the nation's leading elite public morals school. Upon his arrival, he is recruited into an anti-societal organization known as SOX by its founder, Ayame Kajou. Tanukichi is blackmailed into joining the group, which leads him to participate in various acts of obscene terrorism. These activities are directed against Anna, the talented student council president of the school. The situation is further complicated by the fact that Tanukichi harbors a personal crush on Anna. The series explores the conflict between the restrictive public morals laws and the subversive efforts of the organization as they challenge the mandated societal standards regarding language and conduct.
