Overview
Sharkwater Extinction is a Canadian documentary film released in 2018 and directed by Rob Stewart. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. It serves as a sequel to Stewart's 2007 film Sharkwater. Activist and filmmaker Rob Stewart embarked on a dangerous quest to stop the slaughter of sharks after discovering they are being hunted to extinction, which threatens the survival of the world's sharks and the destruction of our life support system. Following the sharks and the money into the elusive pirate fishing industry, Stewart uncovers a multi-billion dollar scandal that makes us all accomplices in the greatest wildlife massacre ever known. Stewart was working on the film at the time of his death in a diving accident in January 2017.
