Route 66 is an American adventure crime drama television series that premiered on CBS on October 7, 1960, and ran until March 20, 1964, for a total of 116 episodes. The series was created by Herbert B. Leonard and Stirling Silliphant, who were also responsible for the ABC drama Naked City. The show follows the adventures of two young drifters across America, with the main characters driving a Corvette along the title trans-America highway. The series starred Martin Milner and George Maharis as the two young adventurers, with Glenn Corbett joining later as Linc Case, a Vietnam war hero. The show functioned as an anthology of downbeat character studies and psychological dramas, featuring the two main characters working odd jobs and interacting with colorful characters. The series aired for four seasons, with its episodes featuring a mix of romantic and dangerous situations.
