Overview
Ripper Street is a British mystery drama television series set in the East End of London. The series is set in Whitechapel in 1889 and explores the lives of characters trying to recover from the legacy of the Ripper murders. The action centres around the notorious H Division, the police precinct charged with keeping order in the chaotic streets of Whitechapel. The series stars Matthew Macfadyen, Jerome Flynn, Adam Rothenberg, and MyAnna Buring. It was created by Richard Warlow and follows the team of officers led by Detective Inspector Edmund Reid as they aim to maintain law and order in a place once terrorized by Jack the Ripper. The first episode was broadcast on 30 December 2012 as part of BBC One's Christmas 2012 package. The series ran from 2012 to 2016 and consists of a team of detectives trying to bring a little light into the dark world they inhabit.
